Why this number
- Shallow drawers keep small items from piling; deep drawers suit bulky knits.
- Drawer fronts need clearance to open fully without hitting doors, islands or an opposite wall — often 24 inches or more in front of the drawer.
- In reach-ins, drawers should sit in the center or clear of the door swing.
